About Me

How it all started…
At the age of seven, my mother and I were watching a match on Eurosport and we both fell in love with the beautiful dresses that all the skaters were wearing.
I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of this world.
My mum immediately registered me at the Alkmaarsche IJsclub, where I took L2sk8 (beginning skating lessons) for the first two years. I was then scouted and allowed to transfer to the competition group, where I trained three times a week.
This quickly increased to four times a week, including off-ice training such as dance, technique, condition, and strength training. In total, I train around twenty hours a week, which I am able to balance with my studies as a nurse.
When I was almost nine years old, I got my first freestyle with the help of my coach Marcus Deen.
The song was Beethoven’s “Für Elise”. Every two years, I get a new freestyle number, the last three of which were choreographed by my choreographer Jimmy Tavares, and accompanied by a kürsuit that was specially made for me by Irina de Goeij-Kantor.
My second song was an Italian mix of “That’s Amore” and “Funiculi Funicola”, which is especially meaningful to me as I am of Italian descent.
My third song was a more feminine freestyle, “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” by the Pussycat Dolls. My fourth song was “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” by the Puppini Sisters.
This was also the year that I was allowed to ride in the A category, which gave me two freestyle numbers, a short freestyle and a longer freestyle. “Diamonds” was my short freestyle.
My fifth song was a Spanish song, “Spanish Flame”, which is my long freestyle. My current short
